There has been some confusion on the Oldsmobile body-style designations, since they don't follow the standard "sedan=post" and "coupe=hardtop (no post)". For Oldsmobile's purposes, the terms 'post' and 'sedan' refer to the number of doors...4-door cars are Sedans, 2-door cars are coupes. And one other note worth mentioning...a popular Olds parts vendor's catalog shows many references to a "442 Club Coupe". There were NO such cars. They are erroneously referring to the Sports Coupe as a Club Coupe. It's an understandable mistake, since the F-85 Club Coupe Model 3307 was basically a stripped-down Sports Coupe...but the 442 Performance Package was not available on the F-85 Club Coupe. The Performance Package was only available on the Cutlass Supreme line.

*4-4-2 Performance Package (Option L78)* gives out-front action to the Cutlass Supreme Sports Coupe, Holiday Coupe and Convertible. *350-hp 4-4-2 Rocket V-8 engine* features 400-cubic-inch displacement, Quadrajet Carburetor, ultra-high compression, dual exhausts, extra-thick radiator, 70-ampere-hour battery, heavy-duty front mountings -- and transmits its power through a heavy-duty driveshaft. *Heavy-duty front and rear springs, shock absorbers, and stabilizer bars* provide a stable ride, superior handling and cornering. Tires are Red-Line nylon-cord tires, mounted on heavy-duty wheels with extra-wide rims. White-Line nylon-cord tires are available at no extra cost. *Special styling* gives specific 4-4-2 identity. the grille features a bright bar on a black background. The hood is topped by two banks of louvers. Cutlass
The new Cutlass is the action leader of the low-price field. Sixes feature a tight-fisted, regular fuel Action-Line 6; V-8s a 250-hp Jetfire Rocket V-8 that runs on regular gasoline or, at extra cost, a 320-hp Jetfire Rocket V-8.
Special styling and Cutlass emblems distinguish the line. Lance-like side moldings form a visual connection between front and rear wheel-opening moldings. Big taillamps are located above matching backup lamps in the big back bumper.
Color-keyed deluxe interior features wall-to-wall carpeting with carpeted door lower panels, deluxe chrome-base armrests, deluxe steering wheel, and dual rear compartment ashtrays.
